Sliding on the guitar is another great technique to your bag of tricks, or I guess you could say your tool belt. This is a very easy technique to pull of and requires some practice, but after sitting down for an less then an hour you should have this underneath your belt.
What do you need to accomplish sliding?
- Pick a string and fret of your choice, and place down your index finger.
- Make sure you do not apply too much pressure, or to little
- Next, we are going to take our index finger, and without taking our finger off the string move your finger up on fret.
Congratulations, you have just completed the sliding technique for guitar!
This is very simple to achieve, but with some more practice and experimenting, you can really make the sliding technique sound more interesting. Also, try combing other techniques you have learned from previous lessons as well!
A guitar player that is really creative with slides is Joe Satriani, let’s take a listen to Flying in a Blue dream, When the melody kicks (2:33) in he starts to do a lot of string sliding, and listen to other techniques he adds, to make his playing sound interesting! The
